Updating Your Space with Fabric

In a perfect world, we'd all be able to update our living spaces on our every whim. Perhaps you decorated your entire apartment in a modern black and white theme, but have suddenly fallen in love with muted earth tones. How nice it would be to have the ability to change our surroundings based on our mood or the seasons. Yet, with the exception of the super-rich, most people live within the constraints of their respective lifestyles. Budgets, schedules, and factors like children or space restrictions come into play when choosing how to decorate, or deciding when to change things up. Unfortunately, the credit card bill will eventually get to your  mailbox, and you'll realize that buying that brand new sofa or wool area rug probably wasn't the greatest idea one has ever had.

There are definitely ways to change up your space without spending a fortune, though. One option that often gets overlooked is reupholstery. If there is nothing wrong with your current sofa or armchair, why not consider a new fabric for it? There are literally hundreds of options, and the presence of a new fabric in your living room might just change your entire perspective on your space.

Shown are some examples of creative upholstery choices. There is no need to stick to one fabric - the option is there to mix it up, and essentially create a whole new piece of furniture by way of your fabric selection.
Palazzo Interiors is more than equipped to talk you through the whole process, from fabric selection, to execution, to recouping your redesigned piece of furniture!

How to Choose an Ergonomic Chair

If you, like so many others, are someone who spends most of the day's hours sitting in an office chair, you know how essential it is to have a comfortable one. Yet, is often the detail that gets the least amount of attention during the office design/selection process. Having a chair that is deemed "ergonomic" and selecting the correct model for your specific needs can be so beneficial, as they are designed to boost a worker's productivity by minimizing their fatigue and discomfort.

Yet, with so many different options out there, how does one wade through all the brands and features available? Making sure you have chosen the right chair can be daunting. It's an important decision and you want to get the best item for your money. To combat the confusion, Palazzo Interiors has come up with a short list of things to look for when shopping for an ergonomic chair:

- Consider seat height: the height of the chair should be easily adjustable, so that you can customize it to your body. Make sure to ask about the "pneumatic adjustment", which will offer the easiest way to adjust your new chair.

- Make sure the seat width (across) and depth (from front to back) are appropriate for your size. You should be able to sit with your back comfortably in the backrest, and at the same time, have a few inches between the edge of the seat and your knees. You should also be able to adjust the forward and backward tilt of your chair from this position - if possible, sit in it and test it out!

- Look for "lumbar support": a quality ergonomic chair should have lumbar adjustments for both height and depth.

This chair, for example, might not be the best choice.

 - Pay attention to the type of backrest on your seat. It can be separated from the seat, or attached, but either way, it should be customizable, as well as have a "locking" option so that you can set your chair once you have made it perfect

- Sit in a few chairs to determine what type of seat material you like best. An ergonomic chair might have a foam padded seat with cloth-like material as upholstery, or some have mesh-y, almost net-like seats which some people find more comfortable.

- Any ergonomic chair should swivel easily, as well as have adjustable armrests.

Hopefully you find these tips helpful! In addition, Palazzo Interiors can assist you in locating the best chair to suit your specific work environment.
